What is the role of adding PE wax to PVC

PE wax as a lubricant, polyethylene wax and polymer have good compatibility. It plays the role of reducing the cohesion between polymer molecules inside the polymer, thereby improving the internal friction and heating of the plastic melt. Polyethylene wax is a kind of smooth agent and release agent with good external smooth effect. The effect mechanism of the smooth agent is to reduce the friction between the contact surface of the polymer and the processing machine and between the polymerized molecular chain.
The role of PE wax in PVC: lubrication, dispersion, stripping, brightness, wear resistance, scratch resistance, pollution resistance, blockage resistance, anti-static, anti-oxidation and other functions.
The smooth effect of PE wax is manifested in the product:
1. Smoothing agent. For PVC, the smoothing agent and the plasticizer can be regarded as the same substance, but the polarity of the smoothing agent is lower, and the compatibility of the smoothing agent with PVC is lower than that of the plasticizer.
2. Lubricant. In the process of processing, under the effect of pressure, it is simply extruded from the mixed material and removed to the surface or outside the interface of the mixed material and processing machinery. The smooth agent molecules are oriented, and the polar groups are oriented towards the metal surface, and through physical adsorption or chemical bonding, a smooth agent molecular layer is formed, because the cohesion energy between the smooth agent molecules is low. Thus, the friction between the polymer and the surface of the equipment can be reduced to prevent it from adhering to the mechanical surface.
3.The viscosity of the smooth interface film and its smoothing power depend on the melting point and processing temperature of the smoothing agent. In general, smooth agents with long molecular chains have a greater smooth effect.
